Review of the Legend of Zorro

Posted by phduffy on 2005-10-30 22:23:52
In 1998, the Mask of Zorro came out.
I enjoyed it. I liked the mix of the light and the new take on Zorro. Some people thought it was too light hearted... I didn't really have any pre conceived notion about Zorro.

So, this new movie takes place 10 years after the end of the first one.
Zorro's married to Catherine Zeta Jones, and they have a kid.

The Missus and Zorro argue about his inability to give up Zorroing. So, for a bunch of reasons I won't get into, they get divorced...

So Zorro's left having to prove himself to his wife, and to his son. And I really like stories about redemption... in fact, I think you make a sweet James Bond movie centered around redemption.

Anyways, I really enjoyed this movie. The sword fights were fun, the effects were well done.... The bottom line is that if you liked the first one you'll like this, while if you didn't, I'm pretty sure you won't.

This is pretty much a by the numbers action flick, but the numbers are well done. Even the fact that there's a kid in it doesn't screw up the movie.
