Song Pick of the Week

I’ve been looking through my mp3 collection lately and noticed I have a fair number of rare tracks and plenty of songs from lesser-known bands. I had the idea that I could post the occasional track on the Wolfshack and that everyone could do the same if they liked. I figure that Death From Above 1979 would be a good band to start off with.

For anyone that isn’t familiar with DFA1979, I’ve heard them described as anything from dance punk to funk metal. Basically they are a two man band that rock out more than you would think possible with just bass and drums. The first track available below is a cover of the song “Luno” originally by Bloc Party, another fantastic danceable rock act.

I also decided to include a remix of DFA’s “Black History Month” done by Josh Homme of the Queens of the Stone Age. As much as I enjoy the Queens, I’m not totally “feeling” this take on the song, as the kids like to say. I uploaded it mostly to see what you guys thought of it. If you enjoy this track, or remixes in general, then you might want to check out the new remix and rarities album that DFA1979 released last week.

Well, any thoughts? Anyone else have a song or band pick?
