Concert Review NIN

OK so this was my 3rd NIN show and supposed to be 4th but front man Trent Reznor has been sick with the flu and cancelled the Ottawa show.

We arrived at the JLC at about 730. We got our tickets from the spiral membership audience (tickets said my name on them w00t w00t!!!) and were inside by 8 just in time for opening act Saul Williams. Saul played a half hour set and was very good. Very poetic type of metal rap or something. Well worth checking out.
During intermission I worked my way up with my date for the night towards the front right in front of Jeordie (former Marylin Manson guitarist).

By the start of the show I was about 15 people away from the stage only to get close as the show went on.

1. Pilgrimage
2. Mr Self Destruct
3. Sin
4. Terrible Lie
5. The Line Begins to Blur
6. March of the Pigs
7. The Frail
8. The Wretched
9. Closer
10. Burn
11. Gave Up
12. Eraser
13. Right Where it Belongs
14. Beside You in Time
15. Piggy
16. Wish
17. Only
18. Every Day is Exactly the Same
19. Reptile
20. Suck
21. Hurt
22. The Hand that Feeds
23. Head like a Hole

Despite what other reviews said I felt that this set list was complete. Lots of old and new songs. The first half of the show was very heavy and some of the heaviest NIN songs such as burn and gave up came on. During the first 6 songs (not sure which) Aaron NOrth dove backwards into the crowd with his guitar and jammed on as he was groped by fans and mauled by security. Amazing...
During Piggy Trent came right down and sang in the crowd, again ... amazing!
Although I noticed Aaron and Jeordie singing quite a bit (maybe trents not over the flu quite yet), trent still sounded amazing. His energy carried throughout the JLC and got everyone in the building rocking! The screen came down for eraser, right where it blongs and beside you in time. For anyone at the Toronto or Montreal show (I was at both :) or any other show on the with teeth tour the video content was the same. Pictures of animals fighting, loving, flowers growing and then dying. Almost as if trents trying to say that as beautiful of a world we live in its still fucked up and dark in its own ways. Other images included bush ballroom dancing (everyone booed and gave him the finger) and also some explosion/war scenes. Brilliant production!

Near the end of the video production just in the song changeover trent smashed the mic down on stage as if he was throwing it into the screen and the screen shattered (just image not literally) and it had a rippling glass breaking effect. Amazing...

As the show came near an end (I knew the set list prior to going in) I knew I had to get in closer and give a little more.
Jeordie smashed his guitar up really well at the end after head like a hole as the fans went wild. Smashing amps kicking stuff throwing. It was totally awesome. I must say trent knows how to rock the stage so hard.

One other note, Trent paused between songs and said "sorry about postponing ottawa... (hesitates) or whatever’s happening with that show. I love playing Canadian audiences FUCK THE US!!!"
This was great but it gave me a bad feel about the Ottawa show. I don't think attendance is as good in canada as it has been in the past but im not sure.
Anyways, I just want to tell you if you get the chance and you like heavy music/good show/amazing time GO GO GO NIN kicks ass every time I see them.
Thanks
