Thought I'd post my thoughts on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. It debued tonight in Canada (tomorrow on NBC, so if it sounds interesting you can watch it then).
The show is essentially about a show like Saturday Night Live. The show sucks, the producer goes on air, says it sucks. Gets fired, and the new president of the station wants to bring in two old writers who were fired.
Okay, that's the setup. And you probably knew that was the setup if you were interested in the show, as they put a 5 minute preview up on the web.
I thought that the first show was intriguing, but I pretty much already knew how it was going to play out. And the first show focused almost exclusively on the behind the scenes, and I think that the actors on the show will have a more prominate roll in future episodes. Plus, Amanda Peet annoyed the fuck right out of me.... and I think you're supposed to like her, so that could be a problem. Mathew Perry and Bradley Whitford were good. And Stephen Weber was good as the prick boss. One problem I brought to the show was that I couldn't shake the feeling that I was watching Greg the Bunny, with Amanda Peet taking over for Sarah Silverman and Bradley Whitford taking over for Greg the Bunny.
I'd recommend checking out the first episode on Monday night. (Catch it on the NBC affiliate)
