Shoot 'em Up

Just out on DVD.

Overview: A political action movie with a ton of fun violence, whores, corn ball lines, and next to no plot (why I'm going to leave out plot).

The Players:
Clive Owen as Smith (The goodish guy)
Paul Giamatti as Hertz (The bad guy)
Monica Bellucci as Donna Quintano (The whore)
Michael Davis, Director

This movie delivers exactly what it's title indicates, it's a shoot 'em up movie through and through. At about the two minute mark (just after opening credits) there is already someone being killed, with a carrot. And this theme essentially carries on throughout the entire movie. While the violence is fun during the movie the lack of actual plot development left me feeling that I should have either been drunk or high while watching it with a group of friends talking all through it. Which leaves me quite torn, with the gaps in time where Clive would do a ton of things while Paul would just be talking for a short time followed immediately by a big shoot 'em up scene. I'm starting to believe that this movie in the hands of another director might have turned out much better. The action sequences are bang on, it just has too many holes.

Basically if you are looking for a fun movie to watch with a bunch of people this works well, a friday evening with your wife, not so much.

Sorry to cut this short, back to work.
