As most of you know I work in the automotive aftermarket parts sector. Our main competition being Canadian Tire, and Ideal Supply. This being said we are definately the smaller of the three stores in our town, but somehow the most trusted, while at the same time the least used. For whatever reason any do-it-yourselfer goes to Canadian Tire to get their automotive parts, they complain about getting the wrong part (helps when you know what the fuck you wanted in the first place), and yet still go back ver and over again. However, they call us for advice and to explain things to them that they couldn't get an answer to while they were at Canadian Tire, or Ideal Supply.
While on the phone pricing out some U-Joints (pain in the fucking ass) for a customer he asks me a question about aluminum yokes vs cast yokes and why you have to have a specific u-joint based off of this. I find this a little strange since I hadn't even mentioned that yet, I answer his question the best I can then he goes into a rant about how his father bought these ujoints already from Canadian Tire and he had just got off the phone with them, etc... So it turns out he had already purchased the u-joints and was just wasting my time while trying to get his answers. I'm polite on the phone and finish serving him and hang up in the hopes that he will learn the error of his ways and come to us first next time to get the proper part and the information he needs from actual professionals.
However, I know this won't be the case, because they can save .50 cents somewhere else, they will just continue to irritate me and waste my fucking time. I'm a nice guy, but this shit happens to me on a daily basis and it's starting to really piss me off. What the fuck is wrong with people?
In conclusion, if you're buying auto parts, dont' go to Canadian Tire, they are the evil empire of half wits that retail parts under manufacturers names that don't manufacture the part in the box. Go to a professional that will get you the correct part the first time. Better yet, support your local mechanic and get them to do your work, they will not only do the job right the first time, they will get you quality parts, and KNOW WHAT THE FUCK THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT! Plus they went to school because cars are fucking complicated now. Really complicated.
