Apparently making goals is important in life. And specific, measurable goals. As a corollary to this, announcing your goals to others will help you out. For example, if you have a goal to write a book, that's one thing. Publicly announcing this (or sharing it with a few friends) makes it much more likely that you'll accomplish your goal.

So a gay 15 year old in Indiana was being teased at school. One of the kids said "why don't you kill yourself". So the kid went home and did so. And this is terrible. Dan Savage heard about it and launched the 'it gets better project', where gay/lesbian/transgendered adults post videos on youtube about how life gets better. I don't think the AoD has any gay teenagers who read it, but if you know any, this could be pretty useful/moving: http://www.youtube.com/itgetsbetterproject
